POLICE investigating the death of tragic York busker Kingsley Hoffman have ruled out suspicious circumstances.

Mr Hoffman was found dead in the River Foss near Heworth Bridge in the city centre, opposite the Brigadier Gerard pub, on New Year's Day.

An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned at Sentinel House in York on Monday by the coroner Donald Coverdale.

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Inquiries have led us to believe that the death was not suspicious but we are still trying to piece together his last movements between 4am and finding his body."

Police have been able to track all of Mr Hoffman's movements in the early hours of New Year's Day up until 4am.
