A £250,000 revamp of Selby railway station has been branded "excellent news" by local campaigners.
Work will start in April to refurbish the waiting room and buffet area, which will be repainted and have new flooring, lighting and seating.
Accessible male and female toilets will be installed, as well as automatic doors at the station entrance.
First TransPennine Express, the train company which owns the station, is carrying out the improvements as part of a £12 million network-wide improvement plan.
The work is due to be completed by April this year.
Reg French, secretary of the Selby And District Rail Users' Group, welcomed the news. He said: "The station investment is part of the franchise commitment First TransPennine Express made and this is excellent news.
"It reflects how important Selby is on the First TransPennine Express route."
Station manager Paul Jackson said: "We have seen a lot of improvements to our stations across the network and it is great to see Selby benefiting as well."
He said almost half-a-million passengers had travelled through Selby railway station in the last year.
Selby District Council leader Mark Crane said the announcement showed positive inward investment in Selby.
"We're encouraging more and more people to use the train and this can only help us do that," he said.
