I would like to thank DogFriendlyBritain.co.uk (Dogs welcome, Letters, January 8, and Room at the inn, Letters, January 14).
It is a brilliant website, but, alas, there are not many entries for the York area.
We noticed last week, that a pub in Bishopthorpe, The Ebor, accepts dogs in one room and the beer garden. This is fantastic, we don't mind if we are restricted to certain areas - it's just lovely to be welcomed.
Of course, we realise that our dogs must be well-behaved, but that could be said of children (no angry parents need reply). Again, we realise that some folk do not want dogs in pubs, but again, the same could be said of children.
As parents, we are used to being a little restricted, so we can of course, accept the same with our dogs. So please, landlords, pub owners and proprietors of York, register and publicise your doggy-friendliness.
I am sure that in time the "dog-friendly" pubs of York will be on the increase, as they are in Cumbria, so let's put our lovely city on the map and advertise our great northern warmth, welcome and doggy friendliness.
Julie and John Dickens, Huntington Road, York.
