SKIPPER Ruth Tyrell led City of York Hockey Club Under-14 Girls A' team to two wins from three matches at Darton High School, Barnsley.
In their opening game, Serena Leach scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 win over a strong Sheffield side.
Immediately on for another game, York enjoyed a convincing 3-0 victory over Leeds Adel Carnegie.
Charlotte McDermottroe scored two goals and Zara Gower added the third.
In their final game against table- topping Doncaster, York were unlucky to lose 3-1.
The City of York goal was scored by McDermottroe.
Kate Morris held the midfield together well in the three games, while Charlotte Worsman linked well down the left and Amber Moorcroft was solid in defence.
Meanwhile, the City of York B' and C' teams played at Outwood Grange College, Wakefield, against two strong sides from Wakefield.
The B' team lost 5-0 to Slazengers A' and then 7-0 to Wakefield B'.
Finally, they played the City of York C' team and won 1-0.
Amber Moores scored the decisive goal.
The C' team lost 4-0 to Wakefield B' and were then beaten 5-0 by Slazengers A'.
Coaches said that the club's younger C' team showed great fighting spirit during the tournament.
