BOMB disposal experts are on their way to Selby after a suspect package was found outside the town's police station.
The package, which was in a black plastic bag, was seen by a police officer as he returned to the station in Portholme Road at 4.10pm today.
A police spokeswoman said that as a precaution officers and civilian staff were evacuated along with Selby District Council and nearby businesses and homes.
The road is currently closed and bomb disposal experts from Catterick Garrison are on their way to the scene. The road will remain closed until the situation is resolved.
