AN OVERWHELMING display of public support for landlords who faced having their license revoked has stopped their pub from possible closure.
Last December, two local residents called upon City of York Council to review the licence of The Golden Ball pub, in Cromwell Road, Bishophill, citing it caused crime and disorder public nuisance in the area.
Noise in the late hours of the night caused disruption to residents living near the pub, said complainants, Mrs C Kennedy and Mr C Summers.
The complainants have now withdrawn their application - thanks to a show of support from local residents.
26 locals who live near the pub wrote to the pub and council with letters of support citing the pub did not cause any disruption to the area. Many more residents also attended a public meeting rallying for the pub.
