A STEADY start was posted by Simon Dyson as the North Yorkshire club class ace sought an early advantage in the Qatar Masters.

The 30-year-old went into today's second round at the Doha golf complex handily placed on level par after a solid first day.

One of the players to start from the tenth hole, Dyson was quickly in arrears with a bogey on the 12th in the $2,500,000 tournament. He eased that with a birdie on the par-four 16th only to immediately lose that advantage and go over-par again with a dropped shot on the par-five 17th.

However, Dyson's inward nine was far more promising. He parred eight holes save for a birdie three on the fourth to restore him to parity and level par, only five shots shy of overnight leaders Anton Haig of South Africa, and Worksop's Lee Westwood, who shares the same management and coaching group as Dyson.
