Mitre A' bounced back to form with a 6-2 victory at Dringhouses A' in the York John Smith's Bulmers Original Sunday Pool League to consolidate second spot.
Glen Day won twice for Mitre, with Dringhouses' only success coming from a Nigel Macdonald double.
A shock looked on the cards when Steve Laing put bottom club Brigadier 3-2 up against Fossway A', but the league leaders then took the last three frames through Paul Kendall, Shane Kelly and Ian Jones to scrape a 5-3 win.
Dringhouses B' were 4-1 up against Burnholme, but had to rely on a last frame win from Jonny Patrick to clinch the match 5-3.
Doubles from Pete Jackson and Mick Gibson helped Castle Howard Ox B' to a 7-1 win over Crystal Palace B'. Chris Alfieri saved the whitewash.
Clifton A' moved into third with a 5-3 victory over Castle Howard Ox A'. John Speck and Chris Wilbraham both recorded doubles for the Clifton, as did Jamie Robinson for Ox.
Fulford Arms came from 4-1 down to claim a draw at Crystal Palace A' with wins from Pete Roberts and two from Gary Bolton.
Liam Pearson rescued a draw with a last frame win against Clifton B'. Andy Hudson won twice for Clifton.
A double from Graham McConnell helped put Fossway B' 4-2 up at Dick Turpin, who fought back with wins from John Reid and Tony Langley to draw 4-4.
