SOLID team performances were produced by all three City of York Hockey Club Under-10s' girls' teams in the latest Yorkshire Youth League programme.
The A' team got off to a good start beating top of the group rivals Wakefield 1-0, with Lauren Ellwood on target.
The Birch twins - Katherine and Rebecca - played well in defence.
In the second game against York B', the A' ranks triumphed 4-0 with Ellwood twice on target and Sophie Hunter also bagging a brace.
As the cold winds began to bite, the A' team lost their run of form and drew the next two games - 0-0 against Rotherham and 2-2 against Sheffield with Millie Grant twice on target.
But for their final game the team regrouped to finish with an emphatic 7-0 win against Slazengers. The plunder was shared between Katherine Birch (3), Millie Grant (2), Lauren Ellwood and Amielia Browne.
The B' team, having just moved up to the A' League, played well. They showed improvement over the previous sessions both as a team and individually.
Anna Clarke and Anna Kilmartin excelled in defence, while Carys Hays made some good attacks up front. There were strong displays too in midfield by Thea Davies, Georgia McKenzie, Becky O'Keefe and Emily McDonald.
However, they struggled to find the back of the goal and lost their first four games: 1-0 to Slazengers, 4-0 to York A', 5-0 against Wakefield and 3-0 versus Rotherham.
Determined not to be bullied throughout, the team rallied and beat Sheffield 2-0 with Ellwood and Browne scoring.
The City of York C' team struggled in the C' Division losing all their matches.
By far the youngest side there, they will ultimately benefit from the experience. They lost 5-0 to LA Carnegie, 1-0 to Kirklees, 4-0 to Ben Rhydding, 2-0 to Pickering B' and 3-0 against Bradford.
