Tadcaster Albion came away with a league double over current York Minor League Under-15 division one leaders Thorpe United but they won't have to defend throughout a game like this in a month of Sunday's.
Thorpe's title hopes took a severe knock with this second defeat in a week.
They conceded two goals in the opening ten minutes, the first a penalty, and although they played some fantastic football, especially in the second half, they were unable to penetrate Albion's backline.
Wave after wave of fast attacking wing play was conjured by Leadbeatter and Brigham to feed strikers Copley and Lodge, but Albion defended like lions and how Thorpe did not manage to score will keep manager Darran Yorke wondering for many a day.
Now they are aware they will have to react in a positive manner with the long trip to Malton to meet Brooklyn.
