WITH reference to the article "Council urged to adopt alley", (The Press, January 23).

To my understanding Dead Man's Alley, located to the left at the top of Linley Road, was already adopted by the York city council, as two colleagues and myself used to clean this lane, as well as all lanes and streets in Clifton area, some six years ago.

We have all since left the council and men and areas have changed.

This could probably be the reason why, with changes, this alley has been overlooked and forgotten, but if the members of the public played their part it would help.
