A COFFIN carried by tractor and trailer tragically marked a young man's love of farming before his life was suddenly taken away.
Daniel Boyes, 20, had been working at a Hovingham farm in Pickering earlier this month when he complained of having earache and flu-like symptoms.
His concerned mother, Rachel Hilton, took Daniel to hospital where, after a brain scan, he was diagnosed with meningitis.
Daniel was put into intensive care and went into a coma and doctors told his devastated family that he was brain dead. A day later his heartbroken mother switched off his life support machine.
Paying tribute to her son and best friend, Mrs Hilton said: "It hasn't sunk in yet. Daniel was a wonderful son who would do anything for anyone."
Only five weeks before his sudden death, Daniel had switched his job as a builder to get experience in farming, to fulfil his ambition to become an agricultural contractor.
His coffin was taken to Pickering Parish Church yesterday by tractor and trailer for the funeral. A cremation service at Woodlands, Scarborough, followed.
His ashes will be scattered in Dalby Forest where he lived as a youngster and spent many hours playing.
