BETTY Windass has lived on Chestnut Grove for nearly 50 years. So it came as a shock when the 83-year-old discovered her street doesn't exist.
Having been closed to traffic in the 1970s, it no longer shows up on road maps or SatNav systems - meaning taxi drivers and even York Wheels can't find her. "After 50 years living here, I have disappeared," she said.
We have every sympathy for the confused pensioner.
There must be advantages, however. Presumably Betty doesn't have to pay council tax, or water rates, or electricity bills.
And those pesky people from TV licensing will never be able to find her. As if.
