York Ladies experienced an unexpected upturn in what has otherwise been a dismal North Eastern League season.
Playing against title-holders New Earswick they won 81-74, picking up eight of the ten points.
At home, Pat Bracken, and her team led all the way, scoring a six on the tenth end to extend their lead to 14-4 and finished up beating Margaret Moss' four 23-12.
Barbara Dawson's team struggled early on against Kath Sykes' ladies, trailing 17-8 after 13 ends.
But they then won five successive ends, scoring 14 shots to take a 22-17 lead, and then kept the remaining ends tight to win 23-19.
At Huntington Road, Joyce Gee's team stepped up a gear after ten ends, when they were 11-8 behind. Seven ends later, they led 22-16 and held on to beat Peggy Walker's team 23-20.
Earswick's only success came from Maureen Wood's rink, who had got the game won by the 15th end when they led 20-3. The final score was 23-12.
