"YORK is tops for culinary activities" (The Press, January 18), or so C Cruddas, J Barnes, O Gore and T Horsby state, and go on to say York is one of the best places to live in. I beg to differ, having lived in York for 64 years.
York, once a thriving city, is slowly going under. Businesses, factories, cinemas, shops, and public houses have closed down or moved to another town, even York market is threatened.
With most of York's shops and building turned into cafés or restaurants, what is left? Night clubs, with one cinema, a theatre, an opera house and historic places, that's entertaining. Give me the remote control.
