The small village of Wistow, near Selby, played host to one of the world's leading martial artists.
Samurai sword expert Fay Goodman, one of Europe's few 7th Dan black belts, visited the Mura Martial Arts Club at Wistow to demonstrate skills in Iaido, the art of drawing the sword.
Sensei Fay, who also has a black belt in karate, runs her own martial arts dojo in Birmingham. Two of her students, Lawrence Campbell and Piotr Hawrylczak, joined her for the demonstration.
The 25-year-old Wistow club set up an Iaido section four years ago and has members from York, Selby, Harrogate and Malton. Iaido means "the way of the Samurai sword", and focuses on the healthy development of the mind, body and spirit.
Peter Drake, chairman and chief instructor at Wistow, said: "We were lucky to get someone as eminent as Sensei Fay. I had the cheek to invite her and to my surprise she said yes'.
"We had a good turn-out for her demonstration and she had us spellbound with her skill."
