CATERING staff have whisked up more than £550 for our Guardian Angels Appeal by holding a bumper raffle.
The dedicated team from York Hospital's Mallard Restaurant worked hard to sell hundreds of tickets - with 19 different prizes up for grabs.
Lucky winners walked away with a range of goodies, including a DVD player, food hamper, chocolates and a "navvy's breakfast".
Julie Barsby, who co-ordinated the raffle with Lynn Neale, said: "We never imagined that we would raise that much - we quite surprised ourselves.
"People just kept on coming in wanting to buy tickets. Lots of people didn't even want to buy a ticket - they just wanted to make a donation.
"I am very proud to work alongside such generous people and I would like to thank them all for their support."
The total amount raised was £567.57, which will help to fund new life-saving high-dependency facilities for children at York Hospital.
