A CHILDREN'S nursery in York is set to close with the business going up for sale.
With a price tag of just under £599,950 Bright Beginnings at 47, Rawcliffe Drive, has gone on the market.
The nursery in Rawcliffe, York, will shortly cease trading, but the freehold property housing the business is up for sale through Abacus Day Nursery Sales.
Owner Christine Henderson, plans to retire in August, and said parents and staff have made new arrangements for after the sale.
The two-storey property is currently registered to provide 33 childcare places for children aged 0-5. At its most recent inspection the nursery was rated “outstanding” by Ofsted.
According to Abacus Day Nursery Sales, the property would be suitable for a range of uses, though it is fully equipped and fitted out as a day nursery, and could accommodate a new childcare business without the need to convert the premises or apply to the Council for permission for a change of use.
The property is very spacious and is situated on a prominent corner plot on a busy road. Inside, the reception area and cloakroom leads to a large open plan room with a general use area, toilet facilities, fully fitted kitchen, dedicated quiet room and storage room.
The first floor comprises a second large room, changing area, children’s bathroom, staff toilet, administration office and staff room.
The property also has two outdoor play areas – front and rear. There are two off road parking spaces.
Chelsea Melnyk, client manager at Abacus Day Nursery Sales, said: “York is one of the most desirable cities in the country and this property would lend itself to a wide range of commercial uses – it could, for example, be converted into offices or healthcare treatment rooms relatively simply. As it is in so well situated the options are endless, and all areas of the property are fully equipped, alarmed and finished to a high standard with comfort and safety in mind.
“Over the past year or two we have seen growing demand from nursery chains expanding throughout Yorkshire, and this could make a fantastic addition to one of their portfolios. Similarly, because it is offered for sale fully equipped but with vacant possession, it would also be an ideal launch pad for a first-time childcare entrepreneur who wanted to set up a business from scratch.”
