A YORK woman has made a "complete change" to her body after taking part in a weight training programme at a local gym - losing 15kg in the process.

Lesley Pearson, a beautician in the city, has made a "total" change on her body, health and mind by undertaking challenging weight training at Definition Body Coaching in Nether Poppleton.

From squats, deadlifts to press ups and planks, Lesley's view on weight training has completely changed after her transformation. Now an impressive 15kg lighter and 11 waist inches removed for summer, she said she is feeling great in her body.

Lesley, 54, said "My weight had started to creep up, a few too many takeaways and bottles of wine. The final straw was when I had a small tantrum because I couldn't find anything to wear for a night out.

"I'd never tried weight training before. It has made me feel strong and look the way I wanted.

"It is important for us maturing women to help support our bones and to help us look good in and out of clothes."

Lesley said she has always had an interest in health and fitness over the years. But, when she started having problems with her knee, she gave up running and most fitness classes didn't suit her - so she needed a new route to inspire her to make a lifestyle change.

Lesley chose to join trainer Justin Shepherd, of Definition Body Coaching, who has helped her build a weight training routine that suits her health and schedule commitments.

Lesley said: "Not having to do a run, bike or even a burpee made a refreshing change for my injury and mind. I don't come away quite as hot and sweaty these days, but I know I've had a good workout. It really suits me.

"My body has changed so much and it is a proven way to get results".

Many people have found self-care, weight management and fitness even more challenging post pandemic - and a new lifestyle hobby can really be the key to restart a person's efforts, Justin said.

He added: "Lesley has shown a great open mind to trying a new skill. Her change has been very popular with our clients.

"Weight training is the number one go to for men and women if a body transformation is your goal. The benefits are not just aesthetic, but the health and mental benefits can be life changing for many of us. I've been fortunate to witness so many changes on York residents over the years.

"We are blessed to have clients weight training from early 20s all the way to mid 80s. Age does not discriminate."
