YORK has been named as one of the best cities in the UK for getting a good night's sleep, according to new research.
Sleep experts at Unbeatable Blinds analysed the available data for 28 UK cities regarding four of the biggest factors that can affect your quality of sleep. These factors were comfort and safety, crowdedness, green space and air pollution and noise levels.
Out of all of the cities in this study York was found to have the lowest levels of noise pollution - when analysing night-time traffic noise and the number of flights per year.
York comes out in sixth place as the safest and most comfortable city in the UK. Despite York scoring very well for comfort and safety, the same couldn’t be said for its neighbours Leeds and Hull, who were both at the bottom of the pile.
The city has better air quality than a fair few of the top ten greenest cities but it falls slightly short on green flag awarded spaces, according to the data.
The quietest city in the UK has been revealed to be York, with a low amount of night-time traffic noise and overhead flights.
Stoke-on-Trent was the overall winner after drawing together the data from the four areas analysed.
