A SPORTING event at a North Yorkshire stately is set to attract over 3,000 athletes this weekend.
Castle Howard Multisport Festival will take place on July 23 and 24 and is set to attract athletes from all over the world to navigate the endurance event.
Races include triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, run and swim distances for all ages and abilities.
This year, Castle Howard has been awarded Middle Distance Duathlon qualifying status whereby athletes will compete for a place at the 2023 European Championships.
The event will also host a qualifier race for the Triathlon England Yorkshire Junior Sales.
A spokesperson for Castle Howard said that last year, the event’s promoters pumped an estimated £2.3 million into the area’s economy, with restaurants, cafes, pubs, B&Bs, and hotels benefiting from bumper visitor numbers.
Castle Race Series managing director Brian Adcock said: “The success of the Castle Howard Multisport Festival is measured not only in the achievement of athletes on race day but also the benefits for the local economy.”
Leader of Ryedale District Council, Cllr Janet Frank, added: “Castle Howard Multisport Festival continues to provide a welcome boost to the local economy and showcase Castle Howard to an international audience.
“We’re delighted that the organisers are coming back this year and Castle Howard is hosting this festival of sport again.”
Entries are open for this year’s event.
