INCREASED support for the Access York project will be discussed by councillors next week.
City of York Council's Executive will be looking at how York will be able to gain wider support through the Leeds City region for the Access York project, York North West development proposals, the role of the city in acting as a gateway into the region and the Science City York initiative.
Nationally, the Government is looking to support joint working by local authorities in neighbouring areas and give authorities more of a role in economic development within their area and region.
Councillors will be asked to increase York's involvement in the city region to ensure that York makes the most of any economic and social benefits from the regional agenda.
Actions could include ensuring that there is appropriate representation at Leeds city region meetings and working with neighbouring authorities such as Selby and Harrogate.
Members will be asked to approve the plans at a meeting of the executive on Tuesday, February 26.
