MEMBERS of a boat club put their stamina to the test to help charity when they took part in a 24-hour row on the streets of York.
The University Of York Boat Club (UYBC) set up two rowing machines in Parliament Street and rowed for a full 24 hours over the weekend.
Starting at 9am on Saturday and finishing at 9am on Sunday, the 30-strong team took it in turns on a rota basis to keep the effort afloat while asking spectators for donations.
Ashley Haycock was one of the organisers of the unusual fundraising event, which took place to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
"It was a really successful day," she said.
"Everyone who took part really enjoyed it and we had some really generous donations."
The team raised £1,076 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
