A bridge in York city centre has reopened after a police incident.
Ouse Bridge was partially closed during the incident with emergency services on the scene shortly before 1pm today (Wednesday, October 25).
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service says crews were called following reports of a concern for the welfare for a man who was stood on the wrong side of the bridge.
A service spokesperson said the incident was brought to a safe conclusion.
"Crews stood by and liaised with police whilst they negotiated with the male," they said.
"Male brought onto the right side of the bridge and left in the care of the police.
During the incident police officers, three fire crews and paramedics were on the bridge. Rescue boats, including the York Rescue Boat, were in the River Ouse below.
Initially the bridge was closed in both directions to pedestrians and drivers but police later reopened one side while emergency services worked on the scene.
Shortly after 2pm City of York Council confirmed the bridge had fully reopened.
