A probe has been launched after a person ejected from York railway station by police was seriously injured in a crash.
British Transport Police (BTP) says it has voluntarily referred itself to the police watchdog - while the incident itself is being investigated by North Yorkshire Police.
BTP said the person at the centre of the incident suffered serious injuries after being involved in a collision with a vehicle outside the station on Monday night.
A BTP spokesperson said: "Officers responded to reports at 7.10pm on Monday, November 13, of a person causing a disturbance at York station.
"They were ejected from the station as a result. Following this incident, officers were alerted that this person had been hit by a vehicle outside of the station.
"Paramedics attended alongside North Yorkshire Police and the person has been taken to hospital. Their injuries are believed to be serious but not life-threatening.
"Officers from North Yorkshire Police are leading an investigation into the incident.
"We have voluntarily referred ourselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC)."
