A MAN has been left with head injuries after an incident in York city centre.

Two police vans and an ambulance were at the scene of an incident in Pavement in the city centre first thing today (April 9).

At about 8.15am this morning two police vans and an ambulance were at the scene with all three parked up outside M&S and opposite The Golden Fleece pub.

One police van remained at the scene for several hours and North Yorkshire Police said that they had been called in after reports that someone had been left with an injury in the street.

Officers were seen going in and out of The Golden Fleece.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We were called at 8am in the morning with a report from the ambulance service that a man had been found with a head injury on Pavement in York city centre.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment.

"Our enquiries are at a very early stage, and are ongoing today.

"Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference NYP-09042024-0082."
