Explore Libraries is turning ten years old in May! Explore is an important part of York, with the libraries acting as community hubs and education centres, with multiple around the city. Each library is running its own events.
On Saturday the 18th of May, Acomb library is running a fundraising craft fair! There are nine different individual craft stands, all from local people including Acomb’s very own Knits and Tots. As well as this, there will be a tombola, a glitter stand, and a chance to see a fire engine up close!
Raffle prizes include donations from locals in Yorkshire, which include York Theatre Royal, Flamingo Land, The Hand, Castle Howard, Carlton Tavern and Valeo, of whom the library is very thankful for! Tickets will be purchased on the day for just £1 per ticket, and include tickets for Yorkshire days out, a meal for a family of four, products from local businesses and much more!
The library will still be open from its usual hours as a library too, and clubs like Pokemon club and Lego Club are still running as usual, so regulars have no need to worry about that!
As this event is in from 10 – 2, make a day out of it in Acomb! The Little Bird Made Market located on the front street is taking place on the same day from 10 – 3, as well as many other local businesses which are open.
So come along, spend your Saturday at your local library, and support Explore Libraries!
