Motoring organisations are reporting that a main road in North Yorkshire closed since early this morning is now open for traffic.
North Yorkshire Police shut the A162 on the stretch near Barkston Ash between Tadcaster and Sherburn-in-Elmet before dawn this morning .
They warned: “We’re currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision”.
They have not released any details of the vehicles involved or how many people were injured. Nor have they since said that the road has reopened.
However, this afternoon the AA and RAC are both reporting all roads in the area as clear for traffic, including the A162, which was closed from the junction of the A162 and Main Street, just north of the Ash Tree pub to Back Lane.
