Part of the A19 near York has reopened after a crash which left one woman injured.

The road was closed both ways from Wheldrake Lane to the A64 Fulford Interchange since about 12.30pm today (Wednesday, June 19) and had reopened by 3pm.

Emergency services were on the scene outside Strawberry Fields Café in Crockey Hill, according to witnesses.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said one woman was cut from a car after crashing into a tree.

“The female occupant was transferred to hospital via road ambulance to receive further care,” a service spokesperson said. “All other occupants were out of their vehicle on arrival of the fire service.”

Drivers were experiencing delays with queueing traffic, according to the AA.

Paramedics, police officers and firefighters were on the scene, an eyewitness told The Press.

Diversions were in place for bus routes due to the crash, with some services terminating early as a result.

York Pullman Bus Company said its My36 service was being diverted in Hull Road due to the crash.

"Due to an accident on the A19 at Crockey Hill, we're unable to serve the following stops on My36 - Wheldrake, Crockey Hill and Fulford Road," a spokesperson for the bus firm said earlier.

Arriva said its 415 service will terminate at Riccall and was unable to serve Escrick, the Designer Outlet and York until the road reopens.

"Sorry for any inconvenience caused," an Arriva spokesperson said at the time.
