ONE of the world’s most well-known jazz clubs is set to take over a venue in York later this year.

Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club is set to return to York Theatre Royal on September 13 with a stunning new collection of music, narration and projected archive images and footage, celebrating Ronnie Scott’s Soho Songbook.

Since its humble beginnings in 1959 as a basement music bar in Chinatown, Ronnie Scott’s has only grown in both popularity and influence – showcasing the music of some of the world’s most iconic and influential artists.

The club has hosted landmark performances from the likes of Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck and the final public performance from Jimi Hendrix.

In addition to the jazz greats, it has also hosted shows from more contemporary artists such as Amy Winehouse, Jamie Cullum, and Michael Bublé.

The club’s York show is set to feature classic music from the jazz greats – and in particular the legendary vocalists who have performed at Ronnie Scott’s - alongside narration and projected archive images and rare footage from the club offering a rare look into the unique world of the club and its incredible history. 

Hosted and performed by the award-winning Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, led by the Club’s Musical Director, this is a unique evening celebrating the history of jazz for any music lover.

Tickets for the show are still available through the York Theatre Royal website or at their box office and are roughly the same cost for a seat at Ronnie Scott's in London.
