Three York firms are teaming up to run a free event next month to help local business owners get their businesses ‘sale-ready’.

‘Getting your house in order’ is at the Novotel York Centre on Tuesday September 17 from 8am to 9.30am.

Independent financial advisers Yorwealth will be joined by PR and communications specialists Partners PR and legal experts SJP Law to look at areas for business owners to consider.

Open to business owners and advisers, the event will look at what they can do, such as explore the value that business reputation adds to the bottom line; how to put your house in order from a legal perspective; and discuss how to plan a financial strategy so that business owners are not stepping into the wilderness when they exit.

Speakers at the event include Yorwealth director and financial planner Oliver Smyth, Partners PR director Karen Tinkler, and SJP Law associate director Philip Lewis-Ogden.

Oliver Smyth said: “At some point, every owner will exit their business and there’s a lot of talk around when’s the right time to start planning for this.

“The fact is that whether people are already thinking about selling, or whether the decision is still a way off, there are steps business owners can take that will help create short term value as well as making sure the company is in good shape when it eventually comes to selling.

"We’re looking forward to discussing some of those steps with business owners and advisers next month.”
