TWO inspirational friends are taking on a gruelling 24-hour challenge in York this month.
Kate Twiddle, 28, from Rawcliffe and Jess Richardson, 25, from Newton upon Derwent, are teaming up to run four miles in every four hours, for 24 hours, starting at 6pm on Friday August 23.
The duo have raised more than £15,000 for good causes since they became friends in January 2020 and their exploits and fundraising efforts have supported various charities across the UK.

They were recognised for their efforts with a shortlisting in the 2023 York Community Pride Awards.
So far this year, Kate and Jess, known as ‘Fundraising Friends’ have run for Menfulness York and the 24-hour event at the end of the month is in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Jess, who is currently in training for October's Yorkshire Marathon, will be taking on each of the four hour slots and Kate, who will be 24-weeks pregnant at the time, will run one or two legs, after receiving the go-ahead from medical professionals.
The duo completed the York 10k on August 4.
The run will take place in and around the streets of Rawcliffe and Clifton Moor with the overnight section indoors at a gym facility.
Kate said she expected around a dozen supporters, including their personal trainer Amy Bond, to be running with them and they’ve received donations of fuelling nutrition from Haxby Bakehouse, Sweet Treats By Mil, and Sweet Dreams Bakery.
‘Fundraising Friends’ are seeking donations from businesses to help them fuel their 24-hour event and can be reached at fundraisingfriendsjessandkate@gmail.com.
