A wedding outlet store has announced its opening day for its new branch in York.

Holmfirth-based Dotty Bridal Boutique is to be joined by Peggy later this month in Coney Street.

The store, created by Shannon Martin, a former contestant of the Apprentice, will open her new store on Saturday August 17.

The dresses are at outlet prices- up to 70 per cent off- as some have been tried on previously.

Previously, the store was to be called Off-the-Peg, but now it will be called Peggys.

Mrs Martin said: “ “I love that we now have Dotty and Peggy, they are truly sister stores,” said Mrs Martin, who named her bridal boutique Dotty after her great-grandmother.

“It’s a change which marks the start of a new era for us.

“We marked reaching our 10 year milestone by Dotty Bridal being crowned UK Bridal Retailer of the Year for 2024 at the Wedding Industry Awards earlier this year. Now the focus is on evolving all areas of the business and expanding.

“We are doing just that by opening our second sample dress outlet store in York later this month, and with the change of name to Peggy to strengthen that brand moving forward.

“It’s our first venture out of Holmfirth and it seemed the ideal time to review our brand, and Dotty and Peggy just go together perfectly.  They are brands which can grow collectively and individually in the years to come. We have plans for the growth of both businesses, so these are exciting times.”

Every bride who buys a dress within the first week of opening of the York store will be entered into a draw to be fully refunded for their purchase, meaning one lucky person will grab a designer wedding dress for free.

People buying on the opening day itself will be given a veil free of charge.

Mrs Martin added: “We’ve seen increasing demand from brides to be able to walk into a store, choose a dress that day and walk out with it there and then without it being specially made for them, and that is why Peggy is such a good concept.”

“That’s the offering we are bringing to York, whilst still providing a team to give that expert advice and support to brides to make sure they find the perfect dress.”

“We hope to see lots of brides-to be-through our door in York in our first week. We’ll be offering drinks of fizz and creating a party vibe, and it would be great to launch in a new city with Peggy helping as many brides as possible say yes to their dress.”
