A leading beef producer, based near York, has won major recognition for some of its steak, along with a ready-meal and its gin.

Warrendale Wagyu has received two stars in the Great Taste Awards for its Wagyu Denver Steak, which retails at £12 for 227g.

It’s Beef Bourguignon Dine In Meal (£7.50 or 3 for £20) and Warrendale fat washed WA-GYN (£30 for 20cl and £55 for 70cl) each received one star.

The Great Taste Awards are recognised as a benchmark for fine food and drink, with the Pocklington-based business saying they underscore their dedication to excellence, craftsmanship, and the superior quality of their products.

The Beef Bourguignon Dine In Meal also received glowing feedback from the judges, saying “The beef is tender, and falls apart in the mouth.”

Additionally, the UK’s first fat washed gin, WA-GYN, received one star, which Warrendale says showcases the company's creativity and expertise in producing unique and exciting products.

Having only launched this year, the gin has comforting umami aromas. The overriding taste is juniper, which is complimented by bright bursts of ruby grapefruit, lemon grass and warming pink peppercorn.

Tom Richardson, managing director at Warrendale Wagyu, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive these prestigious awards.

“Our team is passionate about producing the finest Wagyu beef, and these accolades are a testament to their hard work and dedication. The recognition from the Great Taste Awards reaffirms our commitment to delivering exceptional products to our customers."

The company says it looks forward to building on this success and introducing more award-winning products in the future.

In May, Warrendale Wagyu won a Kings Award for Enterprise Innovation.

It supplies leading retailers such as Aldi with its meats, which it also sells from its website.

It also launched a special Wagyu sausage for Waitrose.

In the run-up to last Christmas, the business also reported its busiest day ever, as people increasingly prefer beef to turkey for their Christmas dinner.
