TWO signed original works by Burley Banksy are to be auctioned in a list of items at a special North Yorkshire village fun day.

The Fenton Flyer pub in Church Fenton is holding the event, in memory of Sarah Emmott, on Saturday, August 17, with proceeds, including those from the auction and raffle, going towards children’s charity Theodora.

Sarah died aged eight in September 2021, after battling serious illness throughout her life after she was born with a severe genetic kidney disease.

Her father Andy said the charity’s specially-trained ‘Giggle Doctors’ contributed enormously to the wellbeing of Sarah, who was in and out of hospital all her life, and visits from the performers in their adapted traditional coats had a big impact on her stays.

The charity helps children, living with illness, disability and serious health challenges and part of their work involved professional performers working in hospitals and care centres.

Andy Emmott is joining pub employee Karl Hebden in a fundraising 'shave-off' on the day – Andy is losing his beard and Karl is shaving his hair off.

Sarah’s big brother Dane, 20, is also playing his part – his band Vital are headlining, performing indie anthems from the 80s to modern day - along with a DJ and other performers.

The artist known as ‘Burley Banksy’ – aka Andy McVeigh - known for transforming electrical street furniture with his paintings, is donating two signed original works to the auction.

His tribute to Sarah Emmott was painted over a telephone exchange box in the area close to the Tadcaster Riverside School she attended.

The raffle and auction has also seen donations coming in from The Grand Hotel in York as well as a Leeds United shirt signed by Patrick Bamford.

The fun day is from 12pm on Saturday, August 17 and the Fenton Flyer in Main Street, Church Fenton and entry is free.

More information is available from the Fenton Flyer Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/fentonflyer/

Raffle tickets are £2 and are available from the pub, and from Ulleskelf Village Shop.
