A MAJOR York supermarket is looking to place hundreds of solar panels on its roof.
J Sainsbury’s seeks to place 704 panels on the roof of its supermarket on Monks Cross Drive, Huntington.
The planning application to City of York Council says, if approved, the panels would have a capacity of 314kWp.
Each panel would have dimensions of approximately 1762 × 1134 × 30 mm and would be installed using a ballast mounted frame system.
Th application continued: “The system, with a power capacity of just under 314 kWp, will produce low carbon renewable energy for the site and the local electricity network.”
The application, submitted earlier this month, has yet to be determined by City of York Council.
