A York mum whose teenage daughter died three years ago is set to complete a mammoth challenge in her memory.
Ceri Wright will be taking on the Lyke Wake Walk Challenge in memory of her daughter, Millie, who passed away on August 21, 2021, due to complications of Aplastic Anemia.
The challenge, on Saturday, August 24, is to complete a 40 mile walk in 16 hours.
The Millie Wright Children's Charity was founded in Millie's memory and based at Leeds Children's Hospital.
Ceri said she is committed to ensuring that, regardless of diagnosis, all families and carers of children with life threatening diagnoses have access to family support while in the hospital.
She said: "When your child is given a life threatening diagnosis the challenges are the same regardless.
"We were shocked to learn that on some wards there was a plethora of amazing hands on charitable support available and for others there was not.
"In Millie's memory we seek to address this inequality whilst complementing the amazing work of the NHS."
