Monday’s bank holiday marks the return of one of York’s most long-running traditional annual summer shows.
Fulford Show, which dates back to 1862, returns on August 26 – on two sites.
There will be more than 100 categories of exhibit on show in Fulford Social Hall – everything from entries for best rose or best carrot to handicrafts and photography and a children’s section.
Nerby on the School Lane playing field, meanwhile, there will be more than 50 stalls, a food area, a funfair, music, a children’s fancy dress competition, competitions for dogs and the wonderful annual display of Tengu Taiko, the Japanese drummers.
“And of course, at 4:15 the races will take place and the annual Tug-of-War!” said show organiser Verna Campbell.
The show is open to everyone between 1:00 to 5:00pm, with ample parking.
