YORK Minster is coming to life with a living wall of plants, which should also help deliver serenity.
Its Refectory restaurant, which was previously York Minster School, has installed the ‘living wall’ as part of a £3.5million refurbishment.
A spokesman for the Dutch company who created the wall, said: “Measuring 100 m², Mobilane’s MobiPanel living wall creates a vibrant green backdrop to the outdoor seating area.
“This living wall is planted with a rich variety of pollinator-friendly plants, bringing plenty of colour and biodiversity to the wall design.
“The team at York Minster recognized the benefits of living walls for improving acoustics and sustainability, making MobiPanel an intelligent choice to mitigate the sound of visitors enjoying al fresco dining.
“Additionally, the peace and solitude required in such a space is further supported by this installation, enhancing the overall atmosphere on the terrace.”
The work was carried out by by Living Walls UK, a trusted partner of Mobilane, renowned for their expertise in installing green wall solutions.
