Where do you go for the tastiest curry full of spices or a kebab bursting with juicy meat and sauce?

We asked our readers on Facebook where they think is the best place for a takeaway in North Yorkshire.

From Bangladeshi to authentic Indian cuisine and Lebanese, here are some top recommendations, chosen by you.

Middle Feast 

Location: 13 Lendal, York, YO1 8AQ

One takeaway mentioned a handful of times by York Press readers was Middle Feast, known for their “authentic Lebanese cuisine”.

On its website, Middle Feast says it offers: “Expertly crafted dishes to the smallest of details, using only the finest and freshest of ingredients, made to order... its no wonder our menu is renowned within the area.”

From a chicken shawarma wrap and salad to a kofta kebab and lamb shish, there is plenty of choice available on their takeaway menu.

Top Wok

Location: 8 Farndale Avenue, York, YO10 3NY

Top Wok in Osbaldwick was another popular recommendation from locals, with one commenting: “No other comes close for quality quantity and value.”

The family-run Chinese takeaway “create all of our dishes from fresh ingredients”, according to its website.

Have you tasted their sweet and sour chicken balls or beef chow mein?

The menu also includes the likes of Thai chicken wings, aromatic duck served with pancakes, spring onion, cucumber and hoisin sauce, and crabmeat and sweetcorn soup (plus much more).

Garden of India

Location: 5 Fawcett Street, York, YO10 4AH

Other readers suggested Garden of India as one of North Yorkshire’s best takeaways.

The Indian restaurant says it is “proud” to serve its surrounding area.

On its website, Garden of India adds: “In Indian culture, eating isn’t just about feeding the body but also feeding the soul – our takeaway and restaurant engages all of your senses.”

They claim to offer a “world of flavour and spices” which all come together to create a dining experience that will “transport you to another world.”

Just some of the fresh dishes prepared include chef specials such as tandoori butter chicken and chicken pasanda.

The Raj York

Location: 21-22 Bootham, York, YO30 7BW

One York Press Facebook follower described The Raj as “faultless” when it comes to choosing their best takeaways in the county.

Its profile on OpenTable reads: “The Raj offers a superb menu with a range of Indian cuisine to suit all tastes and pockets, all cooked to order on the premises from fresh ingredients, by a team of specialist chefs.

“Diners can choose from standard curries through to a selection of Chefs Specials and Balti dishes.”
