WINE lovers will have the chance to enjoy wines from seven different Yorkshire vineyards on Sunday.

Yorkshire Heart at Nun Monkton, just west of York, is staging its first-ever Great Yorkshire Wine and Fizz festival, saying tickets have sold well for a first event, but there are still some available.

The seven Yorkshire vineyards taking part are Yorkshire Heart, Laurel Vines from Beverley, Ryedale Vineyard from Leavening, Little Wold from South Cave, Carlton Towers vineyard, Farthings Vineyard from Thixendale and Malton Vineyard.

Tim Spakouskas, Director of the family-run Yorkshire Heart Vineyard, said: “This is the first opportunity to try all these wines grown and made in Yorkshire in one place.”

Tim continued: “We have catering from our Winehouse café, cheese boards, charcuterie boards and scones with jam and clotted cream will all be available. We will also be joined by Pan Sushi offering their lovely sushi style dishes.

“We have some great, local musicians lined up. From 1pm we have Karl Mullen and his piano, 3pm Martin Ledger playing his Dire Straits set on guitar. 5pm Lu Brown singing and playing guitar and keys; and from 7pm the brilliant Simon Snaize on guitar and vocals."

Tickets are available to book online or you can turn up and pay on the gate, entry includes a branded wine glass to keep.

Tickets are now live for Hearty Festival 2025 in July next year, Fri 25th Sat 26th  sun 27th.

As for this year’s harvest, Tim added: “After a slow start due to the very wet and cold spring, the vines have been loving this warm dry spell and are really doing well now. We just need more warm sunny weather to ripen the fruit ahead of harvest in October.”
