HOMES have been evacuated in a York suburb.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say they were called at 9.21pm on Tuesday night (August 28) after reports of a fire in Acomb.
A service spokesman said: “Crews from Acomb, York and Huntington responded to a fire inside the kitchen of a ground floor flat. All persons were accounted for.
“Crews entered the flat wearing breathing apparatus equipment and extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet.
“The cause of the fire is believed to had been accidental. Fire safety advice was given to the occupant and neighbouring residents who had evacuated.”
