Two people were arrested after a motorcycle was stolen in a North Yorkshire coastal town, police said.
The blue Suzuki was stolen from Whitby, outside an address on the West Cliff at about 3.40am today (Thursday, August 29).
Officers spotted the bike about 15 minutes after it was stolen, passing Scaling Dam reservoir over the county border, North Yorkshire Police said.
By this point, a force spokesperson said, officers from Cleveland Police were “closing in from all directions to ensure the suspects on the bike could not get away”.
“They headed down Birk Brow and North Yorkshire officers used a stinger device further down the road to deflate the tyres.
“Traffic cops from both forces worked together to bring the bike to a safe stop on the outskirts of Guisborough.”
A 43-year-old man and 17-year-old boy, from Middlesbrough, were arrested at 4.18am, the spokesperson said. They were taken into custody in Middlesbrough then taken to North Yorkshire.
Officers recovered the motorcycle just before 6am and the owner is being kept informed about the investigation, the spokesperson added.
