It comes as MG Timber and Online Marketing Surgery have created the “Garden Space Report” which helped rank areas in York based on their home outdoor space, revealing the best areas to buy houses with a garden.

To do this, the experts have used data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) around access to gardens and public green spaces in UK, where they found the property garden space area for all neighbourhoods in York.
Top 5 areas in York with the most private garden space
- Dunnington, Elvington and Wheldrake (area) - 1,355,113 (home garden space area m2)
- Bishopthorpe and Copmanthorpe - 1,329,148
- Heworth North and Stockton - 1,271,086
- Poppleton, Rufforth and Askham - 1,230,322
- Strensall - 1,108,508

Additionally, here are the locations with the least private garden space in the city:
- York city centre (area) - 96,495 (home garden space area m2)
- Clifton North - 343,891
- Heworth South and The Groves - 356,783

- Fulford Road and Clementhorpe - 414,682

The locations have an average home garden space of 1,355,113 m2.
In contrast, Holgate East is among the places with the least amount of private garden space, resulting in an average of 357,579 m2.
