To do this, the experts have used data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) around access to gardens and public green spaces in UK, where they found the property garden space area for all neighbourhoods in York.

Top 5 areas in York with the most private garden space

  1. Dunnington, Elvington and Wheldrake (area) - 1,355,113 (home garden space area m2)
  2. Bishopthorpe and Copmanthorpe - 1,329,148
  3. Heworth North and Stockton - 1,271,086
  4. Poppleton, Rufforth and Askham - 1,230,322
  5. Strensall - 1,108,508
