A NATIONWIDE tour that hopes to bring ‘optimism, determination and laughter’ to women is coming to York for one night only later this autumn.
The WOW Show with Jude Kelly is set to take to the stage on October 13 at York Theatre Royal as part of its tour across the UK.
WOW – Women of the World – is a show run by the WOW Foundation, a charity dedicated to achieving a gender equal world, with founder, CEO and acclaimed theatre director Jude Kelly leading the show each evening.

Audiences are promised ‘an evening of optimism, determination and laughter’ with personal anecdotes, local guests, big ideas, and lots of fun on offer each night.
Furthermore, audience members are invited to join the conversation as Jude journeys through the topic of gender equity – covering everything from money, sex, race, food, to ageing.
Host Jude Kelly was a pioneer in her industry – running the Leeds Playhouse from 1990 to 2002 and working as artistic director of the Southbank Centre in London from 2006-2018.
She founded The WOW Foundation in 2010 - celebrating women and girls, and taking a frank look at the obstacles they face – and stepped away from her role in the theatre to run the foundation full time in 2018.
Her message is: "If you are a woman or you know a woman, please show up!"
In addition to the show itself, nominations are now open for a local hero, who works to make the lives of women, girls and non-binary people better, and will appear live on stage with Jude.
All nominees must be over the age of 18, have a connection to York, and can be any gender.
The winners will be celebrated on stage as part of The WOW Show with Jude Kelly, and receive two additional complimentary tickets to the event. For more details, and to nominate somebody, visit WOW’s website.
Tickets to WOW are available now on the Theatre Royal’s website.
