Tim Spakouskas, Director of Yorkshire Heart Vineyard said: “We are delighted to have received such great recognition for our wines at this year’s WineGB Midlands & North awards.

“The standard of English wines, and Yorkshire-made wines, is increasing rapidly and to have been successful with each of the wines that we are entered is just amazing!

“There is a lot of hard work, dedication and, above all, love that goes into our wines and we are committed to creating high quality wines that can be enjoyed by all tastes.”

Host Lord Gerald Fitzalan-Howard, who also produces wine at Carlton Towers, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to host the WineGB North & Midlands competition and it was really exciting to see the amazing variety of wines, but more importantly, in the words of the judges, the extraordinary quality that has developed over the past few years.”

Yorkshire Heart is an award-winning family-run vineyard and brewery, the latter of which opened in 2011.

Chief winemaker Gillian Spakouskas started the vineyard as a hobby in 2000 with just 35 vines, which has now grown to more than 22,000 vines.

Last month, the vineyard staged its first ever Wine and Fizz Festival featuring seven Yorkshire vineyards to showcase the wines produced in this county.

It also stages its Hearty Festival, featuring live music, every July.

The harvesting of the grapes is expected to take place in October.
