ROADS are set to close in a York village as an annual festival returns… featuring an extra special guest.
Main Street, Bishopthorpe between its junctions with Acaster Lane and Croft Court is set to be closed this Sunday (September 15) for The Bishopthorpe Community Festival.

The event follows the huge success of previous years where revellers can expect to see stalls, live music, events, and the blessing of one of York’s most known figures in addition to a day of fun and performers.
After the day is opened by the town crier at 12pm, visitors can watch a variety of performers across multiple sites in the village.
On the main stage, performers are set to range from Afro-Cuban drummers to rock performers, in addition to showcases from local dancers and singers.
Shepherd Group Brass Band, Bishopthorpe Community Choir, and the Ebor Morris Dancers will also be performing in other sites across the festival.
As The Press reported earlier this year, a total of £750 was granted to organisers to assist with the running costs of the Bishopthorpe Community Festival.
Other stalls and vendors in attendance can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
