Stargazing sessions are set to resume at the Star Hub at Sutton Bank Visitor Centre, near Helmsley.

The stargazing facility offers visitors the opportunity to look at the night sky through powerful telescopes.

Following a hiatus over the summer, a new packed programme has now been shared.

The first of the new events will offer the chance to see the Milky Way and Saturn, on Saturday, September 21.

Richard Darn, lead astronomer, said: "The North York Moors is beautifully dark, which is why it was designated as an international dark sky reserve in 2020.

"The public appetite to learn more about the night sky is as strong as ever, especially as many people have lost their view of the heavens due to light pollution."

Other themed nights planned include moon-watching sessions and a chance to see the Solar System’s biggest planet, Jupiter.

The full list of dates so far comprises the Saturn and Milky Way Night on September 21, Galaxy Night on October 5, and Solar System Night on October 19.
