A NEW project aimed at helping young people has launched in North Yorkshire this week.
Knaresborough Community Alcohol Partnership (CAP) was launched yesterday (Wednesday, September 11) with the aim of targeting underaged drinking and antisocial behaviour.
As the ninth CAP to be launched within York and North Yorkshire over the last three years, these partnerships aim to bring together different services to highlight risks of underaged drinking and improve the wellbeing of local young people.

This includes local authorities, retailers, healthcare, young people’s services, and police.
North Yorkshire Police officers will use a mix of tactics in Knaresborough, including test purchases, to prevent sales of alcohol to children, and intervention work to educate and deter young people from drinking underage.
PCSO Laura Thompson who is leading the launch for North Yorkshire Police said: “Today is another step forward in reducing underage drinking and tackling the problems it causes in Knaresborough.
“This partnership complements the other police tactics we use, like our regular targeted patrols, so it’s a great way to make Knaresborough even safer for everyone who lives here, works here or visits.”
