RAIL travel has been disrupted today after electrical cables were stolen.

York passengers are warned that trains travelling south may be delayed today following the theft of signalling cables.

This is set to disrupt journeys on the East Coast Mainline between Aberdeen and London Kings Cross but also out towards Selby and Hull.

A spokesperson for National Rail: “Theft of signalling cables in the Doncaster area is disrupting services between York / Selby and Doncaster.

“Services will have to run at a reduced speed and as a result may be delayed by up to 30 minutes.

“Disruption is expected until 13:00.”
